Our high-impact gypsum board solutions are just another way in which USG Corporation supports and provides for our customers.

Annex A1 describes test methods for testing impact-resistant sheetrock and other products for Hard Body Impact Resistance.ĪSTM C1629 makes reference to three other test methods for abuse resistance: ASTM E695 for Soft Body Impact, ASTM D4977 for Abrasion resistance, ASTM D 5420 for Indentation Resistance. The fiberglass mesh is thin and strong for a smooth, long-lasting joint. The anti-microbial coating repels fungus and black mold, which can affect air quality. The main ASTM standard for abuse classification is ASTM C1629 which specifies the levels of performance. FibaTape® Mold-X 10® is a self-adhesive, mold-resistant drywall tape that is ideal for use in paperless drywall systems.

USG offers two types of impact-resistant drywall panels that provide moderate abuse resistance and two types of panels that provide high levels of abuse resistance. This is achieved through higher wallboard density and the presence of fiber mesh embedded in the backside of the wallboard. USG’s abuse-resistant drywall portfolio includes enhanced panels with up to five times the impact resistance of regular wallboard.
